The paintings of Jeanine Cohen materialise from her wood assemblies, the rectangular structures which cause light, colour and matter to interact in a very specific way, thus allowing the work to emerge.

The result is an architecture of colour and shadow projected onto the wall. The light creates reflections which lends to the work a certain 'romanticism', though the work remains determined and structured by its geometry.
